Loving my new job

I know I have been a slacker and haven't ever posted here before. Noel gently reminded me that I need to tell about myself. I guess I will start with some of my past jobs and how much better Page 1 is than any of them.

I can't believe how terrible my past jobs have been, especially this time of year. This is the first time I can remember not having to work on Christmas Eve and New Years. When I was 17, I missed Christmas all together because my whole family went to Nebraska and I had to work and was home alone. I got my presents and everything a week late, I was sad.

Now I think I work for one of the best companies in existence. I have no uniform (which is funny because I spent my graduation money on suits) and I get to be comfortable. I have learned so much about Marketing and that's what I got my degree in. I thought I had it all figured out, I was wrong.

I have had a very different assortment of jobs in the past 7 years and this is the first time I have had only 1 job.

I sold and installed car stereos for 5 years at Circuit City which was fun for a while but new cars you almost need an electrical engineering degree to work on.

I then started working for a mortgage company in Aurora part time while still at Circuit City. If anyone has questions about how that process works, definitely ask me, it is something people have too much trust about and should really research beyond just rates. That is also the most unreliable paycheck I have ever had. Sometimes I didn't get a check for months at a time. I don't even have this job on my resume I hated it so much, but the knowledge was worth everything and that's how I got my house.

I then got a position at T-Mobile because of a friend of mine. That was a wonderful place to work for a while but like all large companies, change is not always good. I also got very good at dealing with confrontation and being yelled at because people don't know how to take responsibility for their actions. I learned so much at that job about customer service, sales, problem solving and organization. But I had a uniform which was horrible (bright pink!!) and I only got 30 minute lunches if I got one at all.

I got my degree in May and decided in July that I was done with cell phones and got an attractive offer at a car dealership. Bad idea!! When things sound too good to be true, they definitely are. I lasted 2 months before quitting because they wouldn't pay me for sales I did.

I then got really picky with what job I wanted to do. Luckily I only had to wait a month. Page 1 found me!! I owe Diane Blau so much for recruiting me. I have yet to meet one person here that I don't like. Everybody has been amazingly nice and helpful. Thanks so much!

As far as my personal life goes, I have had the same amazing girlfriend for almost 7 years, and no I am not ready to get married because I fear commitment. haha

I have a huge dog and a mean little cat and a pretty worthless snake in addition to the 8 fish I have at work. I love all animals and would have a zoo if my house was big enough.

I love to travel and want to see the world. I also love to take long drives in the mountains in my new car. I listen to all types of music and play violin and guitar. I enjoy going to concerts and more recently going to the gym. I am getting into speedo shape for Mexico, and yes there will be pictures :-).

Hopefully this gives everyone a snapshot into my life and I will definitely plan to be on here more. I can't wait to learn about everyone else.
